Henry Cheney Hammer Company

Cheney Safety First Wedge

U.S. Patent 1,600,960 — 21 Sep 1926

This patent was issued to Titus Sheard Hose of Little Falls, New York and assigned to the Henry Cheney Hammer Corporation. It is the only patent found that was directly assigned to the company.

“One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a practical and efficient wedge securing device of the character mentioned which is so formed that it may readily be drop forged, which is a relatively inexpensive method of manufacture.”

Special decals applied to select Cheney hammers declared, “This Handle Secured By Cheney Safety First Wedge” — as seen on this Type 2 No. 777 Adz Hammer.

Thanks to toutle4 for sharing this Type 1 No. 777 Adz Hammer.

Here’s an example with double wedges! Thanks to Ronnie for sharing this 16 oz. Cheney Nailer made in England by Brades.
